Members of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelines Taskforce discussed the new and modified recommendations for adult patients with sepsis and septic shock, released in October 2021. The speakers discussed evidencebased recommendations and best practice statements in the areas of screening and early treatment, initial resuscitation, mean arterial pressure targets, ICU admission guidance, infection, hemodynamic management, ventilation, additional therapies, and a new section on longterm goals of care. Practice changes to consider and guidelines processes that led to the recommendations were also discussed. The speakers also answered questions about the guidelines.
