Happy new year 2023 everyone !
For this year's first big video, we head to Nancy, in the Grand Est region, to talk about a really strange transport system : the TVR ! Is it a tram ? Is it a bus ? Neither of them ! The TVR (french acronym for Transport sur Voie Réservée, or Guided Light Transit in english) is a hydrid vehicle that can run on a rail, on the road like a trolleybus (powered with overhead lines) or even like a regular bus using a diesel engine !
Constructed by Bombardier, the TVR never worked as planned and Nancy stopped exploitation on March 2023 after 22 years of service. Despite a lot of technical problems and an awful management during the first years, Nancy's TVR paved the way for a better transportation network in the city and its successor, a regular trolleybus is expected to mostly run on the same path.
