"Stand By Me" was written by American singersongwriter Ben E. King (together with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller), based on the gospel song of the same name by the Rev. Charles Albert Tindley.

King's recording of the song was released in 1961, and it became a big hit, topping the R&B charts in the US.
In 1986, it became the title track for Rob Reiner's film "Stand By Me" (based on Stephen King's 1982 novella "The Body"), and reached the top 10 once again.

According to BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.), it ranks as the 4th mostperformed song of the 20th century!

"Stand By Me" is one of the greatest hits from the 60s, a timeless classic, and a wonderful song to play on the piano!
