I'm excited about building my first mod and to be able to create tutorials along the journey. After spending hours figuring out how to use the creation kit, I have to give mad props to everybody putting in effort to create mods, especially before the creation kit was not available to them. Here's a quick chapter rundown and the written directions:

Please use the following steps for the "Getting Started" section.

Step 1: Download "Starfield: Creation Kit" on Steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/27...

Step 2: Edit starfield.ini
The starfield.ini will be located in the steam directory. On standard installations, it would be found at this location: Program Files (x86) | Steam | SteamApps | Common | Starfield. You can then scroll down and find Starfield.ini. Edit the file in a text editor and scroll down to the bottom under [Archive] and enter the following: bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

Should actually go into your starfieldcustom.ini in your My Games folder. This will either be in your Onedriver/Documents/My Games, or your main user account Documents.

Editing Starfield.ini is temporary and will get overwritten if you validate your files or there's an update.

Step 3: Create Scripts/Sources directory and copy over content resources
In the "tools" folder in the Starfield directory, open up the "ContentResources.zip" in a new window. Keep that open and go back to the Starfield directory and move to the "data" folder. If it doesn't exist, create a new folder named "Scripts" and then inside that folder create another folder named "Source". Go back to the contents of the "ContentResources.zip" file and copy everything inside the "Scripts" folder to the newly created "Source" folder. When that's done, you're ready to start creating in the "Starfield: Creation Kit."
