Six years ago this week, Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive no. 765 triumphantly pulled the first steampowered, public passenger excursions over the iconic Horseshoe Curve landmark since 1977. As part of Norfolk Southern's 21st Century Steam program, the 765 operated three Memorial Day weekend trips between Lewistown and Altoona, Pennsylvania with each roundtrip totaling over 300 miles.
