STHIL MS562 Chain BarStud repair

This Sthil MS562 had both chainsaw bar studs stripped out. they where first retaped and reinstalled using HeliCoils, after they stripped out again sortly after the first re[air, so HeliCoils where not the way to go here, so we came up with a new game plan. Hope this video help.

the correct thread size for this saw is 8x1.25mm.

try to save the original stud saw thread if you can.

next try to drill and tap for oversize stud M10x8

but if it has been drilled already and stripped again it's time to get creative. that's where this video comes in. I had no choice but to go to 1/2" but be sure you don't use too long a bolt. After drilling and tapping screw stud in then pull spark plug and pull cord gently to see if you have any interference. if you do then trim bolt. TIP OF THE DAYY, PUT A DIE OF THE APPROPRIATE SIZE AND THREAD PITCH BEFORE CUTTING. this way no matter what you do to the end, when you take die off you will repair thread.
