Today I wanted to share my perspective on a successful and fulfilling career in film composing and why I think idolizing famous composers like Hans Zimmer and trying to be exactly like him is not a good idea. I also encourage journaling as a tool to help composers reflect on what they want out of their careers and what kind of lives they want to live outside of composing. These are just my thoughts on building a successful film music/film composing/music career and is not meant to make anyone stop liking Hans Zimmer, Bleeding Fingers Music, or wanting to pursue the composer assistant job route. Everything has its pros and cons, I just think that aspiring film composers should think more thoroughly about what's important to them and make a decision based on that and not what they think will bring them closer to a career like Hans Zimmer's.
