1) I bought a linen kitchen towel at Fix Price, but not for my hands. I sewed a gorgeous bag out of it, which is perfect for light summer outfits.
Fix Price has things so beautiful that you can't refuse them. No matter how much you don't need them, you know that they will definitely come in handy.
Lately, they have been selling good quality towels, both terry and cotton, for the kitchen. And the colors are just gorgeous. This time I bought a linen kitchen towel for 199 rubles, made in Ivanovo, I really
liked the pattern, I will sew a summer bag out of it to wear with a dress made of seamstress.
Handknitted lace will go well with this fabric.
I really like the "granny square" technique, it will go well with this fabric. I looked for a pattern on the Internet, chose the simplest one. I also bought the yarn at Fix Price, it is a little thicker than iris.
Anything decorated with lace looks gentle and romantic. Even the simplest openwork looks charming.
Knitted 7 squares. Connected them with a needle and thread. The size of the bag depends on the length of the strip.
Folded the towel in half, cut off on all sides. Stitched the side seams. If desired, to keep the bag in shape and be more rigid, you can iron the interlining from the inside.
Stitched the corners, their length is equal to the width of the knitted square.
Attached a strip of knitted squares to the bag and pinned it to the fabric from the middle in both directions. Then stitched it. As a result, the bottom and sides turned out lacy.
Sewed the inside of the bag from the lining fabric.
Connected both parts. Turned the edges to the inside of the bag and stitched.
For the handles, I took a belt from trousers, cut it in the middle. I made holes along the edges with a hole punch.
I sewed the handles to the bag. Readymade bamboo handles would also work here.
Just a few stitches and the bag is ready to go out.
It is perfect for light summer outfits.

2) A cozy soft thing for the home from an old towel. I made the pattern on myself without any measurements.
People have learned to use old towels not only for rags, but also to make all sorts of things for the home and for themselves. Washcloths, rugs, bath hats, mop attachments, toys, dish mats and much more. The things turn out soft, fluffy and are easy to wash in the machine.
I read that towels last 3 years. But in fact this is not true, I have some examples that are over 30 years old and still in good condition. Yes, all my towels are almost that old. This year I changed them all for new ones.
My daughter also constantly throws in "old" towels because she's tired of them and they're not the right color.
You can also sew slippers for home from towels. And you can do this in different ways.
Today I'm going to sew cozy slippers, like socks, since they don't have a hard base.
To cut out the sole, I took my flipflops. But it's better to just trace your foot, since they turned out to be big and had to be sewn in.
The sole will be double, made of 2 layers of fabric.
The upper part is cut like this:
I divided the sole into 2 equal parts along the length.
I applied it along the middle line to a towel folded in half.
Where the heel is, I put my hand and made a mark 4 fingers wide.
Then I continued the line to the toe, diagonally.
From the heel side, I lengthened the line a little by 1.5 cm further than the heel.
Now I marked the point of the middle of the sole. I drew a line, slightly rounding it at the corner.
I made 2 blanks this way.
I cut out 2 more exactly the same pieces from another fabric. This will be the inner part of the slippers. I have a beautiful soft flannel of a cute color.
I connected the pieces with the right side inward and stitched along the inner semicircular line, this is the entrance to the slippers. I turned the pieces inside out.
I stitched the heel lines.
I turned the blanks inside out, laid a line along the edge.
Now you can try them on:
To do this, I put the upper part of the slippers on my foot and placed it on the sole. Now you can apply everything and see how much to remove or leave as is.
I connected both parts of the slippers and stitched.
I trimmed the seams with a bias binding made of flannel.
Done!
