I am a backyard mechanic and I bought a stud gun to stud my own tires. This is a short video to explain my process. Make sure the holes are clear, I used a small screwdriver to pry out any stones I found imbedded in the holes. A little soapy water was also helpful in making the gun slip the studs into the holes, if it's dry the don't go in as far. I used the shortest 9mm studs #11's that are 10mm tall. This worked great to give my 2 wheel dive truck a lot more traction. Good luck and happy driving.
