SUBMARINE at the bottom of the SEA: WE DID IT!!!

Follow
Manual do Mundo

The submarine under the sea is real and official. After four years of a journey that demanded a lot of study, effort and dedication, we can say that we did it!

The challenge of building a submarine was launched in the channel's first video of 2018. On January 2 of that year, the video “How to make a biciboat the 2018 manual boat of the World!” went live with a somewhat audacious challenge: if it reached the mark of 500 thousand likes, the boat of 2019 would be a submarine.

A short time later, the video reached the stipulated mark and the construction of the submarine became real. Officially, the first video on the channel to address the topic was released on February 14, 2018.

Since then, it has been gaining life, shapes, colors and even a name. In July of this year, the submarine was ready. Inspired by Yellow Submarine, by “The Beatles”, the visual artist Dizing was responsible for making the project even more special.

The choice of name couldn't be even more symbolic. It needed to follow some “requirements”: it had to be the name of an animal that can swim and dive very well, it had to come from Tupi since Brazilian submarines, in general, have a name in Tupi , and it had to be a sonorous name and nice to hear.

After a long choice, the name of the submarine from Manual do Mundo was nailed as Ariranha! The animal is characteristic of the Pantanal and the Amazon River basin, in South America.
As all the processes had been completed including tests in the pool and a diving course the only thing missing was the submarine at the bottom of the sea.

And if it's a submarine at the bottom of the sea that you want, it's a submarine at the bottom of the sea that you'll get! To close this story in style, the chosen location was the city of Paraty, on the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

After parking the sub at sea, the next step was to submerge. Before taking it to the ideal location, the Ariranha had to be “towed” due to space and even convenience. The moment was one of tension, bearing in mind that pressure and force could cause a break or fissure in the structure.

To guarantee all the necessary security and record the best images of the submarine on the sea floor, a strong team was assigned to monitor the outcome of this story. A series of cameras and divers were ready to follow everything up close!

When the submarine finally reached the point destined to submerge, it only took a few more checks to check that everything was working correctly: and to everyone's delight, it was! The Otter met the bottom of the sea.

With the crystal clear water and many small fish around, the big dive was a spectacle in itself.
Now that you already know the outcome of this story, be sure to watch the video in its entirety to check out the best moments of the submarine at the bottom of the sea. Enjoy and share this video with that friend of yours who loves a historical adventure!
