[Profile of Azari Zensei Yamahira, an Ajari of the Mt. Koya sect]

Born in Kagoshima Prefecture in 1972, he is of Zaike.
At the age of 15, he climbed Mt. Koya and became a monk when he entered high school.
He is said to be an unconventional monk, having joined a motorcycle gang while he was a monk.
He trained at Mt. Koya for about 10 years and became an "Azari."
Later, an independent Shingon Buddhist temple was built.
He currently wears many hats: chief priest, manager, and Reiki master.
They operate a temple where people gather and make connections, including by setting up a riders' cafe on the temple grounds.
