“Wet on Wet” technique with acrylic:
In this video "DEMO" I'll show you how to master the "Wet on Wet" technique with acrylic, ideal for creating color and texture mixing effects. Although acrylic dries quickly, I will share tips for keeping paint wet longer and achieving beautiful results.

The "Wet on Wet" technique is a style of painting where wet paint is applied to a layer of wet paint, making it easy to mix colors and create effects of texture and depth. With acrylic it can be a little more difficult because this paint dries quickly. Here are some tips for achieving the “Wet on Wet” technique with acrylic:

Necessary material :
Acrylic Paints: Uses high quality colors that are richer and more pigmented.
Palette Knives: Perfect for applying thick layers of paint and creating interesting textures.
Retardant Medium: An additive to slow the drying time of acrylic.
Painting canvas or paper: Prepare your work surface with light humidity to extend drying time.
Water Spray: To keep the paint wet longer.
Wet Palette: A special palette to keep acrylic paint wet for longer.
Steps for the "Wet on Wet" technique with acrylic:
Preparing the palette:

Use a damp palette to keep your acrylic paints fresh longer.
Mix a little retarding medium with your paints to extend their drying time.
Surface preparation:

Lightly dampen the surface of the canvas with a water sprayer. Don't saturate it, just enough to make it moist.
Apply a thin layer of retarding medium to the surface to slow the drying of the paint.
Application of the first layer:

Apply a first coat of acrylic paint using palette knives. Works quickly to keep paint wet.
Use broad, fluid strokes to spread the paint.
Adding additional layers:

Add additional layers of wet paint on top of the first wet layer.
Blend colors directly on the canvas using the palette knives to create smooth transitions and textural effects.
Maintaining humidity:

Use the water sprayer regularly to keep the paint wet, especially if you are working on large areas.
Work in small sections if necessary to prevent the paint from drying too quickly.
Finishes:

Adds fine details and finishing touches while maintaining moisture in lower layers.
If some areas begin to dry, apply a thin layer of retarding medium to reactivate the paint.
Additional Tips:
Work quickly: The key to the "Wet on Wet" technique with acrylic is to work quickly to keep the layers wet.
Experiment with textures: Use palette knives to create different textures and effects in your painting.
Practice: The more you practice, the more comfortable you will become with timing and controlling paint moisture.
