Hyndman Peak is the highest peak in Idaho's Pioneer Mountain Range at just over 12,000 feet. The Hyndman Peak trailhead is a short drive from Sun Valley and Ketchum. If you are ready for a bit of a struggle, this hike is likely the best hike near Sun Valley and Ketchum. The trail is well defined up to Sundance Lake and then begins the strenuous but super fun approach and scramble to the summit. Enjoy views of the entire state of Idaho from this iconic Sun Valley peak. Hyndman Peak can be completed in one long day hike or make it a multiday trip with one of the many campsites along the way. The views from the top of Hyndman are top notch and are well worth the 12+ total miles and nearly 5,000 feet of elevation gain it takes to conquer. The entire trail is completely gorgeous and surrounding peaks seem to shrink as you climb higher and higher to the top!
