In this video I discuss how to train to improve your balance. Balance allows you to generate power in the absence of stability and can prevent falls and accidents. It is key to agile and graceful movement.

To train balance, we must understand the multiple different systems that contribute to it. These include the vestibular system, proprioception, and vision. It is by using information from all these distinct sources that we can gain a sense of where our body is in space and relation to the ground.

We can also train many of these senses independently and together. By closing our eyes during hand balancing/calisthenics, for example. Or by moving and stretching the neck which serves as the bridge between the vestibular system and eyes, and the rest of the body.
