Supernatural Spaces 1: Creation Mysteries | How Spirit Shaped the Cosmos | Center of the World

Follow
The Hidden Passage

Part 1 of our exploration of Earth’s supernatural mysteries. The ancients believed that certain places in the world contained great spiritual power and sought to live near and utilize them. What was it about these sacred sites that had, and continue to have, such a profound and lasting effect on humanity?

Explaining what makes certain places sacred, as defined by historian Mircea Eliade, foundational to all religious thought, articulating how this revelation shaped human development universally from its earliest prehistoric origins, studying comparative cultures around the world, such as Indian, Native American, Jewish, to Norse, Australian Aboriginal, & more. We will look at certain geographical features, such as hills, caves, rivers, and springs, that had unique energetic effects.

We will cover the concept of the axis mundi in all its forms, from the world mountain, to the pillar, to the tree, to the temple, and how it served the function of linking portals the heavens and underworld with our middle earth, allowing humans to contact spirits and gods in other realms, and how ancient cultures shaped whole societies around it, establishing cosmic centers using the principles of geomancy, divination, and other esoteric wisdom.

We will also explore several cosmogenic myths regarding the earth as the divine Mother Nature goddess, as well as the cosmic giant, and myths/ folklore regarding how humans were born of the earth itself. We look at ancient rituals/ magical practices, as well as legends that come down to us through the mystery traditions / schools and secret societies (Rosicrucian, Theosophical philosophy, etc) which show us how people believed this planet was a living deity and pivotal to the spiritual destiny of all life.

Lastly, we focus on a case study of pagan Celtic Ireland to see how these principles shaped the sociopolitical landscape through rites such as sacral kingship, & the geography of sacred mounds.
