Why didn't we put the Surron on a REAL motocross track?
We went back and forth on this decision and in the end there were 2 strong arguments against going to a local MX track. First, consistency, MX tracks are often changed multiple times per year, and depending on the person doing the grooming they can vary quite a bit due to things like how much the dirt is ripped up, how much water is put down, etc. We felt like if we used an MX track we would have a hard time getting consistent conditions throughout the months/years of our testing and we were searching for a track that has been consistent for years which is the one we are using. Secondly, MX tracks are designed for much more powerful bikes and testing a Surron on a full blown MX track would have been more of a test of our personal riding skills rather than the bike itself and the components. The desert turn track we are using tests the bike more than it tests our skills and the almost 360 degree berm turn is perfect for testing throttle smoothness which is going to be crucial with Controller upgrades and the tunes offered in them. The stock controller was a lot like a light switch in that turn making it hard to be smooth and I'm hoping for improvement with our BAC4000 tuned by EBMX.
