The swan goose is the wild variant of the domestic Chinese goose. When standing side by side, there are obvious anatomical differences between the wild and domestic types. This video discusses some of those differences. The swan goose is native to eastern parts of Asia, however, they've been introduced to other parts of the world. These large birds have long necks which can make them easy to confuse for a swan, hence their common name; though swan geese are geese and not swans. Swan geese eat a lot of grass and those may be used to "mow" lawns!

Range: native to eastern Asia
Size: 7 pounds (3kg) in weight; wingspan averages 5 feet (1.5m) in length males are only slightly larger than females if at all
Diet: grasses, water plants, invertebrates
Lifespan: up to 20 years
