I recently restored my Yamaha SY85 synth (1992) – the 720k floppy drive belt had dissolved and it had 2 broken keys. I replaced the drive with a new directdrive floppy (NEC FD1231H 1.44MB P/N 1345067913012) and this magic cable (EME 213YV Adapter 24 Pin), and swapped in replacement broken keys. I also upgraded the internal RAM to 8mb (2 x 4MB 70ns 30 Pin SIMMs) and installed 2 x SYEMB06 nonvolatile RAM modules ( https://www.sector101.co.uk/syemb06.html ).
In this simple test jam all sounds are generated from the SY85 in multitimbral mode and sequenced using an Alesis MMT8 hardware sequencer.
