Tailbone Stretches and Exercises to Relieve Pain

Follow
Rehab Science

Today's video covers tailbone stretches and exercises to help relieve pain in the tailbone or coccyx region. Pain in the tailbone region is referred to a 'coccydnia' and is very common. Typical tailbone pain symptoms include dull (achy) or sharp piercing pain that occurs when sitting on hard surfaces, moving from sitting to standing, pooping and with sex. Tailbone pain usually results from falls, prolonged sitting and with repetitive activities that apply stress to the area, such as cycling and rowing. Tailbone pain also often occurs during the third trimester pregnancy.

Today's video shows five stretches and exercises that often help people suffering from tailbone region pain. Besides these exercises, it also important to modify or eliminate any activities in your life that may be aggravating the area. In most cases, this means trying to avoid prolonged sitting.
