Over the last several years, I’ve worked hard to grow and evolve the YouTube channel for The eLearning Designer’s Academy. The truth is when I first started creating videos over 10 years ago, I used a cheap webcam and a clamp light—it was pretty basic back then!

But since then, with tons of trial and error, I’ve worked to master my process for producing, recording, and editing my video content. And this has included investing in better lighting, a better microphone, and a better camera—not to mention dozens of hours watching YouTube videos to figure out how all these things work!

So recently, I’ve started working with a small group of trusted designers and developers to help me refresh and update the brand for The eLearning Designer’s Academy. In addition to building and launching a new website (which is coming in a few months), I decided I also wanted to refresh and modernize the look of my videos.

Previously, my videos were very dark and flat, so I wanted to go in the complete opposite direction.

This started a multiweek journey, where I spent a lot of time collecting and sorting through different sources of inspiration to figure out the look I wanted to achieve. My goal was to create a bright, simple, modern, and easygoing look, along with some neutral colors, wood textures, and simple pops of color.

And I have to say, I’m pretty happy with the results, and I hope you are as well! So, in this video, I’ll share a tour of my new office and filming space, along with some behindthescenes details about the equipment I use.
