TANK WRECKS OF DDAY Discovery of the sunken Sherman tanks of OMAHA BEACH

The story of DDay and the Shermans trying to swim to the shore of Omaha Beach is legendary. The 741st Tank Battalion would suffer extreme losses off the coast of Omaha Beach due to a combination of rough seas and uncertain U.S. Navy personnel.

The tank wrecks that can be seen outside PortenBessin between Omaha Beach and Gold Beach on the Normandy coast provide a great opportunity to see up close the M4 Sherman tank wrecks that were recovered from the English Channel, a few thousand meters away of what once was Omaha Beach!

In this short episode I look at the DDay tank wrecks and a host of other World War II relics and wrecks recovered from the beaches of the DDay invasion.

And if you're heading over for DDAY 80 this is one museum you do not want to miss!
