I read Ukrainian okay (speaking it is harder, especially when everyone just defaults to Russian with me) but, apart from my Ukrainophile period as a teenager, have never found myself translating poetry from it before the Russian state pissed me off so bad. Auden said that mad Ireland hurt Yeats into poetry. Well, mad Russia hurt me into translating Ukrainian literature.

Here's me reading one of the results, probably the most famous poem in the Ukrainian language, by Ukraine's most famous poet.

Wanting to help Ukraine, but not sure who to trust?

Mriya Aid was created in response to Russia's attack on Ukraine. It is run completely by volunteers. Every penny goes directly to providing nonlethal aid to citizens and soldiers fighting this attack. They have an excellent network, and the aid gets where it needs to go.

A lot of people are dying now. Others soon will. Still others are in agony. Help them by helping Mriya Aid do the right thing, the human thing.
