If you walk or cycle along the Tarka Trail and pass the Puffing Billy or Torrington Cycle hire opposite, you may have seen a railway carriage or two and been intrigued.
Every Thursday a group of heritage lovers and old friends meet up at Tarka Valley Railway station for a day of renovations, light exercise, chat, fun and lots of tea.
The diverse group known as The Tarka Valley Railway Group was formed in 2008 to preserve what remained of the railway at Torrington and to begin an extension of the line back towards Bideford.
