In our recently released report, Computational Thinking for an Inclusive World, we call all educators to integrate computational thinking into disciplinary learning across K12 education, while centering inclusivity, to equip students with the skills they need to participate in our increasingly technological world and promote justice for students and society at large. The sustainability of this pedagogical innovation depends on our ability to make computational thinking a part of every teacher’s toolbox. We suggest that embedding computing instruction within preservice education programs would support teachers to arrive at the classroom ready to introduce students to computing and leverage computational thinking for disciplinary learning.
