What is an analog clock?
It has two hands that say tick tock
Time keeps going, it never stops
Around the hands go, on the clock

To know the hour, check the short hand
Then check the long hand for the minutes
There’s a second hand for the seconds
Let’s practice telling time friends!

Say the number where the short hand is
Then check where the long hand is
Say o’clock if 12 is where it is
Or say 30 if it’s on the 6

Like 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock, 3 o’clock,
4 o’clock, 5 o’clock, 6 o’clock,
7 o’clock, 8 o’clock, 9 o’clock,
10 o’clock, 11 o’clock, 12 o’clock

And 1:30, 2:30, 3:30,
4:30, 5:30, 6:30,
7:30, 8:30, 9:30
10:30, 11:30, 12:30

Each number also represents
A multiple of 5 minutes
Starting at 12, let the counting begin
Counting by 5’s, let’s say the minutes

Like 12:05, 12:10, 12:15
12:20, 12:25, 12:30
12:35, 12:40, 12:45
12:50, 12:55

Between numbers are minute marks
When we aren’t counting by 5’s
The long hand points at each
They also help tell the time

Like 12:01, 12:06 or 12:09
12:14, 12:18 or 12:29
12:34, 12:47 or 12:49
12:53, 12:58 or 12:59

When it’s morning, you say AM
Afternoon and evening, say PM
60 seconds equals one minute
One hour is made of 60 minutes

On a digital clock, it’s the same
Say the hour, then the minute’s name
Like 5:00, 7:12 and 8:08
9:02, 6:14, and 4:48
