The Tempo was a sales success for Ford. It was as one of the top ten best selling cars in the U.S. for its entire production run and was the top 5 list a couple of times. Yet Ford lost money on this car line for years and discontinued it 10 years after it launched. Was it a successful car or was losing money on each one of the cars a futile effort to gain customers?
