One of my favorite characters in all of Avatar for sure. So well thoughtout, and an integral addition to the cast, even if he's not technically a member of "Team Avatar". Being Aang's son, there were high expectations on him to be a powerful and interesting character (from fans and inuniverse civilians alike). And, boy, did they deliver.
Instead of making the character perfect with no flaws and having mastered everything, they created a man who is greatly affected by the identity of his father. He is a skilled bender, but he still has a lot to learn as a person, and several major issues to still work through, which we get the benefit of being able to watch. And they cleverly intertwine the effect that Aang had on him with his personal growth, making it feel extremely grounded.
