In this video, we talk about the Brewster SB2A Buccaneer, also known as the Brewster Bermuda, an American World War 2era scout bomber and dive bomber from Brewster Aeronautical Corporation that is considered one of the worst planes made during WW2. We first talk about the predecessor to the SB2A in the Brewster XSBA, also known as the Naval Aircraft Factory SBN, designed in the Navy's search for a new scout bomber. We talk about the promise of that design and how Brewster being poorly run doomed it. We then talk about their move to the Brewster F2A Buffalo and then the SB2A, in response to yet another call for a scout bomber.

We look at the early slightly promising performance of the SB2A, along with its many, many, many faults. We talk about how then, even before the design was finalized, countries like France, Britain, Australia, and the Netherlands expressed interest and placed orders for use as a dive bomber. We talk about the sluggish testing and production of the SB2A, and how even when delivered, the planes were so poor that no country approved it for combat use. We end by looking at a WW2era book on American aircraft and its rather positive (and false) description of the Buccaneer.
