Day 1: We explored Yankee Boy Basin outside of Ouray, aiming to camp at Sydney Basin. Unfortunately, both Governor Basin and Imogene Pass were snowcovered, blocking our path.
Day 2: We ventured through the Red Mountain district and Porphyry Gulch. Highlights included water fording near Chattanooga Trail and camping by Middle Fork Mineral Creek. Despite a heavy downpour, we kept a watchful eye on the rising river and didn't have to relocate.
Day 3: We tackled Ophir Pass, only to find the Telluride connection closed. Instead, we explored Hurricane Pass and Corkscrew Gulch near Silverton, encountering Porcupine Gulch, Georgia Gulch, and the stunning Mongol Mine. We ended the day camping at an abandoned mine site rich with history.
Don't miss this epic journey filled with snow, high rivers, and historical sites!
