Texture Clouds | Generative Ambient Patch in VCV Rack 2

The start of this song lies in experimentation with the Texture Synthesizer, which is the VCV Rack version of the physical Mutable Instruments Clouds module. A blend of these two names is also what gave this patch its name.
An arpeggiated chord is fed into the Texture Synthesizer. The output of this is then sent through the Chrono Blob delay and modulation is applied across the board courtesy of the Ochd module. Looking back at the very first version of this voice, it has changed a lot in characteristics and has now become more of a background filling. You notice when it is taken out of the mix, but it's a bit undercover underneath the other voices. I may return later to the original version of this voice to see if there isn't another patch to be made with it.

Underneath the other voices, a simple Basal combination is providing a steady base/bass by playing the root notes of (very) slow chord progressions. These chords are strengthened by an FMOP that is playing the root, third and fifth of the chords.

The top voice is provided by the ProbKey module, from which the notes are fed through a quantizer that will map them to the notes of the currently playing chord.
Just to provide some frivolity, the movement of the Walk2 module generates two note patterns by sending it through a quantizer that is set to the pentatonic scale. The speed of the Walk2 module is modulated, so sometimes the notes are triggered rapidly, while at other times there is only an occasional change. The sound of these voices is generated by a triangle and a sawtooth wave, both of which are sent through their own filters. The output is then sent through a Dual Delay.

And since the patch has "Clouds" in its name, a bit of rain is also mixed in. The intensity and volume of the rain is changed by randomising the pattern in the ShapeMaster module, simulating the changing intensity of a storm. You don't want too much rain however, so this voice is only triggered every so often.
