The 14 Dividend Stocks I SOLD

Follow
ppcian

Here are the exact 14 stocks I recently sold from my dividend stock portfolio. These 14 stocks sold formerly comprised 15% of my portfolio's value. Now, it's time to rebuild with the popular ETF, SCHD.

0:44 Stock 1: Apple (AAPL) 4.5% of my portfolio's value
1:07 Low dividend yield with lots of equity tied up in the position.
1:32 I may buy APPL stock back in the future. I would like to own it again.
1:46 I'm actively buying SCHD right now, as I rebuild the 15% of my portfolio that I sold.
2:03 Stock 2: 3M (MMM) 3.4% of my portfolio’s value
2:44 Would I buy back MMM. It's a maybe.
3:05 Stock 3: Colgate (CL) 1.4% of portfolio value
3:27 I have a ton of CPG like PG, UL, and CLX that all cover the CPG category.
4:08 Stock 4: Alphabet (GOOGL) 1.3% of portfolio
4:21 This was an easy sale for me, since they pay no dividend.
5:15 Stock 5: Air Products (APD) 0.8% of portfolio
5:29 I felt that APD was a little overvalued. I also worried about chemical industry exposure.
6:34 Stock 6: Leggett & Platt (LEG) 0.7% of portfolio
6:49 I sold because they are having a hard time covering their dividend, with a poor payout ratio.
7:15 Stock 7: Marriott Vacations Worldwide (VAC) 0.6% of portfolio
7:30 I'm selling a lot of smaller positions to streamline life.
7:55 I don't have room for fun, collection stocks anymore. I need to prioritize stocks that pay real dividend cash flow.
8:13 Stock 8: Dutch Bros (BROS) 0.5% of portfolio
8:30 I have large positions in SBUX and KO, so my allocation to coffee is quite sufficient.
9:03 Stock 9: Viatris (VTRS) 0.4% of portfolio
9:17 I have adequate exposure to healthcare via higherquality companies like JNJ, PFE, and ABBV.
9:53 This was a difficult one to sell because it's undervalued, in my humble opinion.
10:30 Stock 10: Danone (DANOY) 0.3% of portfolio
10:49 DANOY has been an underperformed for many years, easy choice to sell.
11:30 Stock 11: Chubb (CB) 0.3% of portfolio
11:34 I'd love to buy back this dividend stock at some point. It was difficult for me to sell this one.
12:12 Stock 12: Church and Dwight (CHD) 0.3% of portfolio
12:25 I sold because dividend growth has been lackluster.
13:00 Stock 13: Alimentation CoucheTard (ANCTF) 0.3% of portfolio
13:23 I want to buy it back at some point. I like this company. I had to sell due to small position size and low dividend yield.
13:56 Stock 14: Hormel (HRL) 0.2% of portfolio
14:05 I sold because of portfolio overlap with other positions.
15:07 I did not sell Ute Brands Inc. (UTZ).
16:02 I feel good about having less complexity in the dividend portfolio with fewer stocks.
