Did you know that Vetements hosted a runway show in a McDonalds on the ChampsÉlysées during Paris Fashion Week? Well, now you do. These shows are the product of multimillion dollar budgets that changed the landscape of storytelling through the medium of fashion and brought the heat on the most extreme performances. Jacquemus in the lavender fields (and recent Nike collab), Chanel’s indoor beach complete with waves and wave machine, and the Balenciaga bin bag show inside a swirling blizzard. Some of my absolute favorite runways from Alexander McQueen, Virgil Abloh, KidSuper, Gucci, Carol Christian Poell, Casablanca, Rick Owens, and Yves Saint Laurent all made this list. America’s Next Top Model could never.
