This short documentary follows musician, singersongwriter, voice alchemist, Chris Assaad as he begins to peel back the layers of why he creates any form of art.

I’ve been intrigued by Chris’s music and voice ever seen I first met and worked along side him. The question “Why?”, has been on my mind since. We spent an evening together in nature to uncover this very question and we went even deeper than I could have imagined.

Finding out what drives someone to do what they do in life is always a fascinating journey.

This has been a beautiful collaborative effort between Chris Assaad and myself.

A few months ago, my friend and brilliant videographer, Chris Psutka, asked me if I would be open to creating something together. I immediately said ‘yes’ and in the weeks that followed, a vision and intention for our cocreation began to emerge in little whispers and nudges that we both received and shared with one another.

The final piece, a mini documentary entitled The Alchemist’s Way, is as honest and raw a piece of art as I’ve been a part of creating in a very long time.

It was born of one full day immersing in brotherhood on a pilgrimage into nature and engaging in what I can best describe as a creative ceremony. We spent the time building and tending to a fire on a secluded beach, having deep conversations about life, music and art, and exploring the alchemy that is at the heart of my spiritual practice, my artistic expression and my way of life.

I share this with deep appreciation and honouring for the sacred container that Chris invited me into, for the beautiful exploration we shared and for this Spirit creation that emerged from our collaboration.
