The Battle of Kursk is the greatest tank battle in history. From July 5 to August 23, 1943, it opposed German forces to Soviet forces on a huge salient of 23,000 km2 located in southwest Russia, on the border with Ukraine, between Orel in the north and Belgorod in the south. It was one of the battles that determined the outcome of World War II in Europe.
