Between Sea and Volcano: The island of Bali jealously preserves one of the most refined cultures of Southeast Asia, but it is of Hindu origin in the largest Muslim country in the world... The film tells us the story of three characters who symbolize all the complexity of Balinese society, but also the extraordinary cohesion which connects all the members of the same community, beyond their differences in status or condition.
The beauty of the landscapes and beaches, the countless ceremonies and the kindness of the population have made the island a tourist success. But over the past twenty years, there has been increasing pressure and the Balinese want to mark their identity by asserting their “Balinity” and peacefully resisting.
