✅ Keratoconus is the most common corneal ectatic disorder where the central or paracentral cornea undergoes progressive thinning and steepening causing high irregular astigmatism and poor quality of vision.
✅ Keratoconus is associated with atopy and eyerubbing. Eye rubbing and repeated trauma in genetically predisposed individuals results in keratoconus and its progression. Systemic disorders like Down’s Syndrome, Leber’s congenital amaurosis, and Ehler’s Danlos/connective disorders are also associated with keratoconus.
