The 1980s were a decade of change in the motoring industry, and a decade of absolutely stonking excess around it. With everything getting bigger, louder, wilder and brighter, the eras concept cars basically followed suit, shedding the wedgecentred image of the 1970s in order to get a bit more bonkers through the 1980s.

The decade featured some truly revolutionary thinking too, from a minivan with a Lamborghini V12 under the bonnet, to a car with eight wheels that could split into two, via a strange car/bike hybrid concept that could seat six with both a wheel and handlebars. The 1980s was truly the decade of the crazy concept car.
