Appenzell and the areas around it have stolen a piece of our hearts. We ended our time there with a final big hike Hoher Kasten to Fählensee. A magnificent hike along the ridge line with panoramic views on both sides. The beauty about hiking in Switzerland is that you'll always find a mountain inn no matter where you go! The Berggasthaus Staubern is the perfect stop along the way for a quick snack and of course beer! The finale of the ridge line before you make the descent down to Fählensee is Saxerlücke it is just jaw dropping beautiful! We made our way down to the lake and across to our final spot for the evening Fählenalp a family run diary farm and Matratzenlager, located at the far end of the lake. This place was truly magical!
