Today I'm showing you how to make rock hard bath bombs. Seriously, the thumbnail is not just for show. This is currently my master bath bomb recipe.

RECIPE: 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup citric acid, 1/4 cup corn starch, 1/2 teaspoon sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (SLSa), 8 milliliters fragrance, 6 milliliters polysorbate 80, 5 milliliters water. Baking soda & citric acid create fizzy reactions. Corn starch is a filler & may be substituted for another starch or flour. The slsa is going to slow reactions in the water so the bomb doesn’t dissolve so quick. You may use an alternate "bubble bath maker" (linked below). Substitute fragrance with carrier oil OR 1/2 essential oil & 1/2 carrier oil. Polysorbate 80 may be substituted with polysorbate 20 (but the resulting wet liquid will be thinner, which means it has a greater chance of causing reactions within the mix). The water is what makes the bath bombs rock hard (this should not be replaced).

DIRECTIONS: Add wet & dry ingredients to separate containers & mix thoroughly. Add mica to wet to reduce airborne particles. Add wet ingredients slowly to dry while whisking. Now thoroughly mix & knead the batch with your hands. I used a 2.5" mold (linked below, go to "molds"). Fill the mold. Lightly pack it. & Sprinkle loose mix on top. Smoosh the 2 sides together tightly & tap both sides to release the bomb.

QUICK TIP: If your bomb releases without the aid of tapping, it's almost certainly not packed with enough mix.
**Why do the wet ingredients gel up & become one big blob? I don't know the science of why this happens, but it's normal & polysorbate 80 is the culprit. Some ingredients don't activate it & others do. This will not affect your recipe. Simply place the blob in the dry ingredients & mix as you normally would.**
