Here we have ’The Bhagavad Gita’, translated by Laurie L. Patton and published in the Penguin Classics series. This edition comes with an introduction by the translator and the translation was first published in 2008.

This paperback edition is bound in a glued binding on nonacid free paper. The text size is medium with large margins, perfect for note taking.

Laurie L. Patton’s translation is simple, accurate and focuses on the general reader, making it a good starting point for people who want to explore the Gita for the first time. There are some notes to difficult concepts and explanations for cultural or religious ideas for each discourse, but people familiar with the Gita might find this edition a bit lacking in interpretation or guidance.

The about 30 page long introduction goes over key philosophical concepts, the characters and the Gita in the context of the Mahabharata. This edition also has a fairly lengthy bibliography.
