The largest submarine in the US Navy is facing a giant problem. With the current class of guidedmissile submarines or SSGNs being retired in the next few years, the Navy has a big problem in trying to fill that gap. With issues converting existing Virginiaclass submarines to take their spot, the Navy is left scrambling to replace these boats in an operating environment where it is not advisable to do so.
