Well, as The Boat Guy video series heads for drydock, I wanted to say a couple of quick things to our fans. First of all, thank you, thank you, thank you! The Boat Guy wasn’t a person or a thing, it was a state of mind. It was a community of people and the community was made up of financial supporters, creative collaborators, interesting guests, gracious hosts, and, most importantly, the thousands of viewers who gave us their precious time to watch the videos, spread the word, and show up at our functions. I am humbled and full of gratitude for all of you and I’m doing my best here to let you know how much I appreciate you and everything you have done for us.

The state of mind we promoted was simple: Get out on our beautiful abundance of water in the Northwest and have fun. The point of The Boat Guy was to show people how easy it is to get out there and float! We live in the perfect place to spend time on the water and as our land continues to fill up with people and concrete, the water is just steps away. The water provides you with space, peace, fun, fellowship, beauty, community, challenges, learning, and spirituality.

The Northwest waterways have provided me with the most pleasurable and rewarding experiences of my life. Whether is was learning to water ski in the “pot holes” on Moses Lake, cruising the San Juans in a 16’ runabout full of camping gear with my family, racing outboards on Greenlake, hitching a ride on a Western Tow Boat tug to Alaska, racing a pelican sailboat at five knots, or racing a hydroplane at 200mph to win at Seafair, some of the most pleasurable moments in my life have been on the water in the Northwest. I’m telling you, it can be the same for you! It’s not difficult and it doesn’t have to be expensive.

It was a wonderful new challenge for me being the host of The Boat Guy. I’ve enjoyed working with extremely talented and hardworking people, most of them you never knew were crucial to making The Boat Guy possible. But they were and I can’t thank them enough. I had a lot of great experiences and an amazing amount of fun.

But, the most important thing to me, over all these decades, making a life for myself out on the water, is that I’ve always felt your wonderful support. It has meant the world to me. Now, I hope these words will help you understand how much I appreciate the kindness and support you’ve afforded me. I can only say, thank you. Thank you so very much!
