Hello everyone, welcome to a brand new video where we see Cairns' arguably hardest regularly operating train to catch due to it's constantly changing schedule!

The Cairns Rail Cement Train is operated by Cairns Rail, owned by Cairns Kuranda Steam who run The Savannahlander. Cairns Rail employs a fleet of Emu Bay Railway 11 Classes made in Queensland in the late 1960s and early 1970s by Walkers Limited but sent right away for work in Tasmania before being brought back to Queensland in the early 2000s.

Cement for Cairns is often transported by train from Gladstone and / or Townsville and brought up north by Pacific National. The Pacific National freight train arrives at Cairns in the early hours of the morning and the Cairns Rail Cement Train gets to work shunting the full cement wagons at Pacific National's Woree Railway Yard and to the cement siding between Portsmith Railway Yard and Cairns Railway Station around 46am where the cement is then unloaded into silos.

However, later in the day around 122pm the train gets to work again and transports the now empty cement wagons to Cairns Railway Station to shunt around the wagons and bring them back to Pacific National's Woree Railway Yard to be placed on the southbound Pacific National freight train.
