The Cargo District: Shipping Container Village WilmingtonNC. In this video, we bring you The Cargo District: The first commercial and residential district in Downtown Wilmington, North Carolina built with Shipping. The Cargo District project comprises of two phases and is designed by Rob Romero of Romero Architecture. The first phase of Cargo District is a nineunit container home community comprising of twostory 1 bedroom apartments, built from eighteen 20 foot shipping containers. The first residential units in The Cargo District are constructed using two 20foot containers stacked on top of each other, alongside some traditional building materials creating modern architecture that is aesthetically appealing and incredibly functional. Each unit in The Cargo District is one bedroom, and approximately 620 square feet, featuring heated concrete flooring downstairs, a custom built staircase, original container flooring and vinyl plank flooring upstairs. On the lower level, each Live + Work unit in The Cargo District will feature a fullsize kitchen with a reverse osmosis filtration system, large living room, paved patio, small garden and offstreet parking for a single vehicle.
