Why would we want to base our interpretations of the New Testament on a western and heavily Latininfluenced context that existed centuries after the time of Jesus? The sad truth is many of the Western Church Fathers could not read Hebrew, let alone were proficient in Greek. They were Latin speakers and Latin is not the context for either Testament.
