Final Fantasy has evolved in many ways since its was first introduced in 1987 and one of the most important aspects of this has been the Battle Systems.

The most famous example of this is, of course Active Time Battle, or the ATB System for short. This featured in many of the core titles between Final Fantasy IVXI and it helped to define Final Fantasy as a frontrunner and pioneer within the RPG genre.

Within this video, we will be looking at how Final Fantasy builtout from its turnbased roots to create something more dynamic... and we will do this, while also looking at other titles that had an influence on the wider development of Final Fantasy battle systems, such as Mystic Quest and Chrono Trigger.
