"South of the Border, West of the Sun" by Haruki Murakami caused an outrage in the German literature show "Das literarische Quartett" back in 2000. As famous critics started a fight on TV, the book was heavily discussed and reviewed. It has later been translated from Japanese into German, as the first version has been translated from English into German, resulting into a loss of quality and language which caused famous critics Sigrid Löffler, Marcel Reich Ranicki and Hellmuth Karasek to have one of the biggest arguments on German TV and most spectacular book discussions ever.
