The Tehuacán Valley in Puebla is the original habitat of Mesoamerica, as it has been inhabited for more than 10 thousand years. The region is characterized by its great cultural and natural wealth. Its first inhabitants domesticated corn, and created the first ceramics of ancient Mexico.

The semiarid lands extend along valleys and mountains. We approach the indigenous community Ngiwá or Popoloca de los Reyes Metzontla, near the city of Tehuacán, Puebla. Here they have been dedicated to the production of ceramics since time immemorial.

It has been proven that the composition of the Metzontla Kings' ceramics is identical to preHispanic pieces, which suggests that their traditional production technique has not changed much for centuries.
