On this fourth day of July, here’s The Cuckoo from my kitchen. One of my all time favorite English turned Appalachian folk songs. In my ears & heart, this is a freedom song through & through.

This arrangement is inspired by Rising Appalachia’s version, I especially love the fiddle part, so here’s me attempting to mouthmusic it :) & i added my own last verse because i felt like there was a little more to say if ya know what i mean.

I’d love to sing music like this in a band one day, with fiddles and banjos and upright bass and stuff… one day !! In the meantime, let me know your favorite appalachian folk songs, i wanna learn them.
