227 debuted on NBC on September 14, 1985 and ran for five seasons before going off the air on May 6, 1990. The show followed the lives of people in a middleclass apartment building, 227 Lexington Place, in Northeast, Washington, D.C. It was centered around Mary Jenkins, her husband, Lester, played by Hal Williams, who had his own construction company, and their daughter, Brenda, played by Regina King in her first television acting role, who was a smart and studious teen but still enjoyed getting into all the things that kids her age typical do.
